Members, Guests & Visitors

Fleetwood Golf Club (the Club) is committed to providing an environment that is free of discrimination, harassment and intimidation for members, employees, and guests.

Members, guests and visitors are all reminded that an acceptable standard of behaviour is expected in all areas of the Club and course at all times and that upon payment of membership or green fees, all members, guests and visitors have given their consent to be bound by both the restrictions and penalties which may be imposed for any breach of the Club's standards or serious misconduct in failing to meet the standards set in this Code of Conduct.

Members will be liable for any breach committed whether by themselves or their guests.

The Club expects members and their guests, and visitors to the Club, to treat other members, guests, and visitors to the Club with due respect in relation to verbal, written and social media communications.

The Club wishes to draw the attention of all members, guests, and visitors to R&A Rule 1.2 - Standards of Player Conduct: All players are expected to play in the Spirit of the Game and R&A Rule 1.2b - Code of Conduct.

Fleetwood Golf Club has adopted the following Code of Conduct as a Local Rule.

On the course: All golfers must:


  • As well as the general Code of Conduct above.  This next section also applies, please read and inwardly digest.
  • Avoid slow play, apply Ready Golf principles, and allow other golfers to play through as appropriate waving the following group through, especially when searching for lost balls, thus maintaining the speed of play by keeping up with the group in front, if this cannot be achieved, you MUST WAVE THE GROUP BEHIND THROUGH, PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THEM, that is regarded as bad golfing etiquette.
  • Make themselves aware of and adhere to the playing format of the day, where this is applicable (for example on competition days).
  • Adhere to the dress code, as well as the R&A and local rules of the course.
  • Demonstrate fair play both on and off the course
  • Always follow established golf etiquette, respecting the course, such as: Repairing pitch marks, replacing divots, raking bunkers, leaving the rake in the centre of the bunker, with the head of the rake, facing towards the pin.  Everyone must follow the Trolley and Buggy route signage. DO NOT RUN BUGGIES OR TROLLEYS INSIDE THE BUNKERS AROUND THE GREENS, KEEP AWAY FROM THE GREENS FRINGES, AND AWAY FROM THE TEE'S.  Respect the course and those who look after it.  There is a notice on the 1st tee, please inwardly digest, if caught breaching these rules, you will be asked to leave.
  • Showing the necessary respect to fellow golfers at all times, which incorporates: no shouting on the course, no misuse of equipment (i.e. throwing clubs in frustration etc.), no aggressive behaviour, or the taking of performance-enhancing medication.
  • Conduct yourself in a sportsmanlike manner and do not knowingly cheat, disrespect employees, officials or fellow players.
  • Mobile phones must be switched to silent on the golf course to avoid unnecessary noise, which may distract golfers playing their own game within close proximity to where you are on the course, be aware of others, sound travels, if you are in conversation with a playing partner, talk, don't shout.

Everyone, both on the course or in the clubhouse, must adhere to the code of conduct; all infringements will be dealt with by the club as soon as they become known, they are applicable to everyone.

Some parts of the below section, may be a repeat of the above, but are worthy of another mention.

Special attention when in the clubhouse, among other members guests and or visitors. think about the things mentioned.

  • Any form of discrimination, harassment or intimidation is regarded as unacceptable behaviour.
  • Consumption of excessive quantities of alcohol is not permitted by law.
  • The use of foul or abusive language such as swearing has no place in the clubhouse and any member, guest or employee heard using unacceptable or offensive language will be asked to either stop or leave the premises. Where someone is noticed to be consistently using bad language after being warned then their continued membership or employment will be reviewed accordingly.
  • Smoking or the use of e-cigarettes is not permitted in any of the Club buildings including the balcony.
  • The taking of illegal substances will incur immediate suspension and loss of membership.
  • Please be considerate towards others when using your mobile phone in the clubhouse.
  • Whilst fully acknowledging that adult "banter" contributes to creating a healthy atmosphere among members, these rules are designed to safeguard others who find such banter offensive or intimidating.
  • Please respect each other; this ensures we all enjoy the clubhouse and golf course facilities together. 
  • This Code of Conduct is not intended to be bureaucratic or to implement a regulatory environment. but rather to foster/ promote/enhance the Club's values.  Hence, why any person/persons engaging in any behaviour, which may be detrimental to the game, or to the enjoyment of others, both on and off the golf course, will be in breach of this Code of Conduct. All reports will be dealt with in strict confidence.  Please report all breaches to the Club Office, or to one of the clubs senior officials, if one is available, should the office be closed. If neither of the options is available, please report it at your earliest convenience.
  • While it is generally accepted that full compliance with this code of conduct will occur, there may be circumstances, when this is not the case.  When breaches occur the matter, once reported, will be dealt with in strict confidence, and in accordance with the golf cubs, disciplinary procedure.  This is available to view on the clubs website, under the information tab, members guide, lastly in the club office.
  • FOR THOSE WHO HAVE READ TO THIS POINT, WELL DONE, BUT ONE LAST THING.  PLEASE ALL REMEMBER. ALL PATRONS ARE REMINDED THAT FOUL OR ABUSIVE LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, ON OR OFF THE GOLF COURSE.  THIS INCLUDES ON SOCIAL MEDIA, WHERE IT MAY REFERENCE THE GOLF CLUB IN THE POSTING.  ANYTHING WHICH BRINGS THE GOLF CLUBS NAME INTO DISREPUTE, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED OR PERMITTED.
