Winter Rules 2023/24

Fleetwood Golf Club Internal winter rules - Winter 2023/2024

These rules are reviewed each year and in operation at the club depending on weather from October/November - February/March.

  1. General Play Q and Initial Handicap Cards will be deactivated on Monday 30th October.
  2. There will be no competition golf played during this period that effects handicaps.
  3. Prior to teeing off ensure you read the notices positioned on the first tee. If unsure ask in the Professional shop.
  4. Weather conditions and maintenance will determine how many holes are open.
  5. When a mat is placed on the tee, with the blocks at either side of it, you must play from the mat - this means your feet and ball must be on the mat when you take your shot.
  6. You must not re-position the blocks. If the greens team decide that conditions are suitable for normal tee play from grass, blocks will be positioned accordingly.
  7. A ball landing on the fairway must be lifted cleaned and placed 2 paces into the semi rough, on the nearest side.  Use white sprayed lines for guidance.
  8. A ball finishing beyond the horizontal white line on mown grass approximately 30 yards from the green can be lifted cleaned and placed within six inches of where it stopped this includes:
  9. All greens, within one club length of the putting surface, a ball may be lifted cleaned and placed within six inches no nearer the hole.
  10. Note :- on par 3’s a ball can ONLY be preferred if it is within one club length of the green.
  11. Preferred lies are in operation on closely mown grass. If you are unsure, ask your playing partners for clarification.
  12. A ball plugged in the face of a bunker may be removed, cleaned and dropped outside the bunker, keeping the point of entry and the flag in line. The drop shall be within two club lengths of the edge of the bunker with no penalty.
  13. When the ball is in a bunker a player may lift, clean, rake the bunker and place the ball as close to the original lie as possible and play accordingly.
  14. Where any bunker has standing water in it and the ball cannot be placed within the bunker, a free drop outside the bunker may be taken. Drop must be within two club lengths of the edge of the bunker at the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.

Reminder

Keep your trollies and buggies away from greens and tees, replace divots and repair pitch marks.

If you hit a ball on to Princes Way you must report it asap to the pro shop or office. You are insured through the club for such incidents.
